As an artist, wife, mother and daughter, I find myself constantly in this tension mode of figuring out how to be all of those things to the best of my abilities. Lets just say it isn't easy!
I often view my life as a canvass with God as the artist. So much of my life feels out of control. However the fact about canvasses is that they determine a lot about a painting. Their texture for example, how much grit is in the gesso, how many paintings there are hidden behind the gesso all impact the result of the painting.
As a parent, I often find myself frustrated at how much my life feels out of control. We are often late to an appointment because of a poopy diaper or all of the shoes in the house have suddenly disappeared.
In reality, however we as parents have the opportunity to decide how we react to the occurrences. We also have opportunities to show grace to ourselves our spouses and our children.
As I continue this blog my focus will not only be on how I was inspired by the most recent viewing of Totoro, but also on finding the balance in our lives as created beings. How are we letting the Great Artist shape and form us? Are we been a stiff board or smooth and pliable canvas?
